CRITICIZE BUT DON'T ENGAGE IN TEARING DOWN .

Hon. Olanrewaju Stephen Afolabi, Councilor representing the wonderful people of APOI Ward IV urged people Of Ese-Odo Local Government not to engage in tearing down.

The recent criticism within Ese-Odo Local Government has sparked immense conversations about the manner in which we represent ourselves and others in the media.

While some may see criticism as negativism, it should, however, be viewed as a tool for improvement. I will only urge those who engage in criticism to strive to be constructive in their approach, offering specific and actionable feedback rather than simply tearing down.

This is important because the way we represent ourselves and others in the media has a significant impact on how we are perceived and treated in the future.

To me, it is inevitable that criticism and evaluation will come your way.

In fact, it is essential for providing quality representation to the people. How on earth could one possibly think that they can give people the best possible representation without public criticism?

It is through constructive criticism and evaluation that we can identify our strengths and weaknesses, and work towards improving ourselves for the betterment of those we represent.

As a representative, it is our responsibility to anticipate and prepare ourselves for such criticism and use it as a way to constantly learn and grow. With the right attitude and approach, we can turn criticism into a powerful tool for better representation and service to the public.

It is important to understand that questions about the work you have been doing with the mandate entrusted to you are inevitable. It is natural for people to inquire about their elected officials and their actions, as it is an essential aspect of democracy.

Therefore, it is crucial one doesn't take offence in these inquiries, but rather take them as an opportunity to communicate and engage with your constituents. It is part of the system for individuals to hold their leaders accountable and ensure that their interests are being represented. So, as a people's representative, it is essential to maintain a positive and understanding tone when addressing these questions and concerns.

By using criticism as a means for growth and improvement, we can create a more positive and accurate representation of ourselves and others.

Let's embrace criticism as a valuable tool and use it to elevate and better ourselves in the future but it must  *CONSTRUCTIVE* .

Ilaje/Ese Odo Must Rise: Time for a New Kind of Leadership

For over 20 years, Ilaje/Ese Odo Federal Constituency has followed the same political pattern—electing male representatives again and again. While the past has played its role, one question remains unavoidable: Has this approach delivered the level of development we truly deserve? If we are honest, we know the answer. Because progress is not built on repetition—it is built on bold decisions and new direction. And as it is often said, we cannot keep doing the same thing and expect different results. This is why the call for gender-inclusive leadership is not just timely—it is necessary. Around the world, communities that embrace women in leadership experience more balanced development, stronger grassroots connection, and better focus on real human needs like education, healthcare, and youth empowerment. Ilaje/Ese Odo cannot afford to leave half of its potential untapped. Now is the time to think differently. Now is the time to act differently. At the center of this new movement is...
