Be Focused, Aiyedatiwa to Young Leaders

Participants at a youth leadership clinic in Ondo state have been charged to avoid distractions and remain focused in the pursuit of their educational and life goals.

Admonishing the youths, mostly students of secondary schools in Akure, on Tuesday, the governor of Ondo state, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, said "I am thrilled by the concept of the leadership program"

The program, Youth Leaders Clinic, is an initiative of the Abuja Leadership Centre, University of Abuja.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, who was represented by his deputy, Olayide Adelami, encouraged the young people to equip themselves with skills needed for leadership positions.

"To prepare yourselves for leadership positions, you must start by doing the right thing at all times and this will naturally attract organic followers who will ask you to come and lead them.

"Leadership is not forced but earned. A leader is someone who inspires and motivates others to achieve a common goal. So remain focused" the governor advised the participants.

He said his administration is taking steps to shape the future of the young people in the state.

"As a government, we recognize the importance of nurturing our youths in the state. This is why we empowered 20 budding entrepreneurs with startup capital and tools, a few days ago. We are also hosting a youth empowerment retreat in the coming weeks" the governor disclosed.

Remarking, Representative of the Deputy Vice Chancellor of University of Abuja and the Director Abuja Leadership Centre, Prof Adewale Banjo, asked the young leaders to devout more time to acquiring quality education and emulate good leaders in the society.

He thanked the governor for gracing the event and providing quality leadership for youths in the state.

The state commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Engr Rasaq Obe, tasked the young leaders to strive for excellence and improve on their skills.

CRITICIZE BUT DON'T ENGAGE IN TEARING DOWN .

Hon. Olanrewaju Stephen Afolabi, Councilor representing the wonderful people of APOI Ward IV urged people Of Ese-Odo Local Government not to engage in tearing down. The recent criticism within Ese-Odo Local Government has sparked immense conversations about the manner in which we represent ourselves and others in the media.  While some may see criticism as negativism, it should, however, be viewed as a tool for improvement. I will only urge those who engage in criticism to strive to be constructive in their approach, offering specific and actionable feedback rather than simply tearing down.  This is important because the way we represent ourselves and others in the media has a significant impact on how we are perceived and treated in the future.  To me, it is inevitable that criticism and evaluation will come your way.  In fact, it is essential for providing quality representation to the people. How on earth could one possibly think that they can give people th...

Ilaje/Ese Odo Must Rise: Time for a New Kind of Leadership

For over 20 years, Ilaje/Ese Odo Federal Constituency has followed the same political pattern—electing male representatives again and again. While the past has played its role, one question remains unavoidable: Has this approach delivered the level of development we truly deserve? If we are honest, we know the answer. Because progress is not built on repetition—it is built on bold decisions and new direction. And as it is often said, we cannot keep doing the same thing and expect different results. This is why the call for gender-inclusive leadership is not just timely—it is necessary. Around the world, communities that embrace women in leadership experience more balanced development, stronger grassroots connection, and better focus on real human needs like education, healthcare, and youth empowerment. Ilaje/Ese Odo cannot afford to leave half of its potential untapped. Now is the time to think differently. Now is the time to act differently. At the center of this new movement is...
