I'LL DUALISE AKUNGBA AKOKO ROAD, CONSTRUCT OVERHEAD BRIDGE, SAYS GOV AIYEDATIWA

- As Gov campaigns in Ondo North, commissions school facility, healthcare centre

- We're building a solid foundation for the development of Ondo State, says Dep. Gov Adelami

In a move to curb the incessant accidents along the major road at Akungba Akoko in Akoko South West local government area of Ondo State, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has promised to dualise the road and construct an overhead bridge on it for pedestrians.

The Governor made the promise on Monday during an interaction with market women and youths of the community on his way from his senatorial campaign rally at Ikare Akoko in Akoko North East local government area.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, who was responding to the concerns expressed by the women and youths over the condition of the dreaded road, said his administration has no plan to remove the barricades on the road.

The Governor stressed that the government had in the last few months considered various options before settling for the dualisation of the road and the overhead bridge.

According to him, the dualisation of the road will start from Ikare Akoko and run through the frontage of the main gate of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko.

The Governor and the Deputy Governor, Dr Olayide Adelami, had led chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the flag off of the Northern senatorial district leg of the party’s gubernatorial campaign at Ikare Akoko.

Addressing the massive crowd, Governor Aiyedatiwa called on the people to rally behind the APC in the coming November 16 governorship election, emphasizing that the future of Ondo State depends on the continuity of the party’s developmental agenda.

The Governor expressed his gratitude to the people for their overwhelming support, which he attributed to the visible developmental strides his administration has made in less than one year in office.

He said: “The love and support you have shown me and our great party stem from the progress you have witnessed. You see the difference, and you want that progress to continue.

“In every sector of our society, the government has intervened. We owe no salaries to our workers; in fact, salaries are paid before or on the 25th of every month.

“We are recruiting more teachers for both primary and secondary schools because we understand that our children are the leaders of tomorrow, and they deserve a solid education.”

The Governor also mentioned the significant efforts his administration has made in constructing and renovating schools, as well as efforts made in security, health, agriculture and infrastructure.

“We are building roads, securing our communities, and making sure our farmers can thrive. This is the work we must continue.

“On November 16, I urge everyone gathered here and those who are not present to convert your support into votes for the APC to ensure the continuation of our significant progress in the state," he added.

Also, the Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami, who is also Aiyedatiwa’s running mate, while adressing the rally, stressed the importance of continuity in governance.

“Our state has witnessed remarkable development under Governor Aiyedatiwa’s leadership. But we must not stop here, we need to push forward for even greater accomplishments. The coming election is not just about electing a governor, it’s about safeguarding our future and the progress we have made”, Adelami said.

He called on the people to come out in large numbers and vote for the APC, saying, “I encourage every single one of you to vote, not just for the APC, but for the continued development of our state. Your vote will ensure we can build on the achievements of today and create a brighter tomorrow for our children.”

Also, the APC State Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, congratulated the people of Akoko for their support, saying, “You have made the right choice by standing with Governor Aiyedatiwa. Under this current government, Aiyedatiwa has made developmental infrastructure a top priority, and this is a government that cares about the people."

Hon. Abiola Makinde, the House of Representatives member for Ondo East/West federal constituency and the campaign’s Director-General, praised Governor Aiyedatiwa as a proven and reliable leader who is giving premium priority to polices and programmes that will enhance the development of the State.

Earlier, the Governor had inaugurated two projects facilitated by the Ondo State CARES initiative: a science laboratory at the Community Comprehensive High School, Akungba and a basic health center constructed by Okusa Community in Akungba, with the support of the Ondo State Community and Social Development Agency.

The senatorial district campaign will be rounded off on Wednesday in Ondo south, at Government Field in Ore, Odigbo Local government area.

CRITICIZE BUT DON'T ENGAGE IN TEARING DOWN .

Hon. Olanrewaju Stephen Afolabi, Councilor representing the wonderful people of APOI Ward IV urged people Of Ese-Odo Local Government not to engage in tearing down. The recent criticism within Ese-Odo Local Government has sparked immense conversations about the manner in which we represent ourselves and others in the media.  While some may see criticism as negativism, it should, however, be viewed as a tool for improvement. I will only urge those who engage in criticism to strive to be constructive in their approach, offering specific and actionable feedback rather than simply tearing down.  This is important because the way we represent ourselves and others in the media has a significant impact on how we are perceived and treated in the future.  To me, it is inevitable that criticism and evaluation will come your way.  In fact, it is essential for providing quality representation to the people. How on earth could one possibly think that they can give people th...

Ilaje/Ese Odo Must Rise: Time for a New Kind of Leadership

For over 20 years, Ilaje/Ese Odo Federal Constituency has followed the same political pattern—electing male representatives again and again. While the past has played its role, one question remains unavoidable: Has this approach delivered the level of development we truly deserve? If we are honest, we know the answer. Because progress is not built on repetition—it is built on bold decisions and new direction. And as it is often said, we cannot keep doing the same thing and expect different results. This is why the call for gender-inclusive leadership is not just timely—it is necessary. Around the world, communities that embrace women in leadership experience more balanced development, stronger grassroots connection, and better focus on real human needs like education, healthcare, and youth empowerment. Ilaje/Ese Odo cannot afford to leave half of its potential untapped. Now is the time to think differently. Now is the time to act differently. At the center of this new movement is...
